Even today, Tibetan Mahayana Buddhism, Hinduism and the pre-Buddhist Bon-Po religion coexists and interpenetrates one another in this region. The unusually wide range of climatic zones in this small area provides an opportunity to watch different flora and fauna, at the same time, the diverse lifestyle of people residing in this region.
Jomsom – Muktinath Trek :(10-12 days)
Jomsom is the only place along the Annapurna circuit, which is connected by air with Pokhara. It is also the District Headquarters of Mustang, which includes part of the legendary Mustang and the Muktinath Region. Trekking to Muktinath begins from Jomsom if you first fly to here. On the way to Muktinath it’s worth visiting to the village of Kagbeni, a Tibetan influenced settlement close to Lo-Manthang, the capital of what used to be the old principality of Mustang. From here, the trail climbs steeply to rejoin the regular trail before Khingar is reached. A further climb brings you through an old village Jharkot to Ranipauwa, the accommodation area of Muktinath, at 3800m.
Muktinath is a pilgrimage centre for Buddhists and Hindus. The shrines include a Buddhist Gompa and the Vishnu temple of Jwala Mai. An old temple nearby shelter spring and natural gas jets which provide Muktinath with the famous eternal flame. From Muktinath you can continue your trek to Pokhara or if you have short time you can catch a flight back to Pokhara from Jomsom again.
Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek: (2 weeks)
A trek around Dhaulagiri (8167m), the 7th highest peak in the world, is considered “A pioneering trek around the ice pyramid Dhaulagiri Massif!” It’s a demanding and remote wilderness trek that completes a challenging circuit around the massif. You start your trek from Beni across the Kali Gandaki valley, crossing two high passes called French Pass (5360m) and Dhampus Pass (5182m), then down to Jomsom to finish. This trek you can only do with camping because there are not many tea houses along the trek.
Pony Trek :
Pony treks provide a fascinating way to experience the mountains and villages of Nepal. For those who can’t take the strain of daily hiking and those who want respite on along treks, there are ponies to ease that burden. Sit astride a pony and feel like what it was to traverse some of the oldest trade routes, where men carrying material to be bartered, opened up paths through the mountains and brought in the influences, went out and influenced others. Pony treks are becoming increasingly popular. The landscape ranging from the plaints of the valley to the gently undulating hills around and the mountains beyond, can take you through some of the most diverse terrains that you can see in few days on pony’s back.

Incredible Adventures  Tours and Travel  help you by arranging ponies for long and short treks and guides. Ponies can be hired by the hours, half day or for full day. Sightseeing trip around Pokhara (Sarangkot, World peace Pagoda, Pame village and much more) can become so much more memorable on a pony ride.
